Based on Kalidasa’s book Abhijnana Shakuntalam, the film Sakuntalam, starring Samantha in the lead, released yesterday. The film is releasing in theaters on 17 February. Fans have high hopes from this Dev Mohan starrer film.
But the reactions indicate that the trailer of Shakuntalam, which released yesterday, has left them disappointed. Criticism has been that the production quality is very low and the cartoon-like graphics used.
His complaint is that even the dialogues in the trailer did not meet the required standards. Samantha’s look as Shakuntala in the film is also being mocked.
The film is written and directed by Gunasekhar. The film is being made in a big budget. Reportedly, Aditi Balan will be seen as Ansu and Mohan Babu as Durvasav Maharshi.
The film also boasts of a massive star cast including Sachin Khedekar, Kabir Bedi, Madhubala, Gautami, Ananya Nagalla and Jisshu Sengupta. Icon star Allu Arjun’s daughter Allu Arha also has an important role in the film.
Music is directed by Mani Sharma. Cinematography by Shekhar V Joseph and editing by Praveen Pudi. The film starring Dil Raju is being produced by Neelima Guna under the banner of Guna Team Works. Apart from Telugu, the film will be dubbed in Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada and Hindi languages.
