Another loss to Malayalam cinema; Film director KP Shashi passed away

Thrissur: Another loss for Malayalam cinema this year. National Film Award winning director KP Shashi (64) passed away at a private hospital in Thrissur.

KP Shashi is a film and documentary director and cartoonist. KP Shashi’s film ‘Ila Yam Mullum’ won the National Award.

‘Ila Yam Mullum’ was a film that revolved around the lives of Malayali women who were vulnerable to social and psychological violence.

Resisting Coastal Invasion, Living in Fear, and Gunpoint Development are notable films. The 2013 documentary Fabricated was a big buzzword.

Major documentaries include Fabricated, Living in Fear, Like Leaves in a Storm, and A Valley Refuge Today.

He is the son of K. Damodar, the founding leader of the Communist Party. He worked as a cartoonist in the Free Press Journal, Mumbai.

He is one of the founders of Vibgyor Film Festival. The cremation will take place tomorrow afternoon at Thrissur Shantighat.
