Amal Neerad started that trend in Malayalam, so I like him: Mammootty

Mammootty told the reason behind choosing Amal Neerad’s film Big B. Mammootty said that he brought the CD of Amal Neerad for the brothers and said that this is the base.

The actor said new directors are not the same as old directors and the story and subject they bring is important. Mammootty spoke about these issues while interacting with the media during the promotions of Mayakam earlier in the day.

Amal Nirad brought me a CD of Four Brothers. He said that this will be the base of our film. This is how it does. I like Amal Nirad because he is a photographer. Does the photography we see now in Malayalam start from that film. His disciples then invented this photography.

I love Amal’s photography, his approach to cinema and his thoughts on cinema. It was formerly called South American type cinema, Spanish cinema or handheld cinema, less so now, but still there.

This was a time when films with breath-taking shots were in vogue. Only then does the action take place. When told that such a film is going to be made in Malayalam, I thought we should not be in it. It is not whether the directors are new or old, it is the subject matter and story they come up with,’ said Mammootty.

Written and directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, Nanakkal Nereth Mayakkum will release on January 19. Asokan, Ramya Pandian, Ashwanth Ashok Kumar, Girish Perinchiri, Sanjana Deepu and others are playing other important characters in the film.
