‘Aishwarya Rai replaced me in that film’: Manju Warrier

‘Asuran’ was the first Tamil film of Malayali’s favorite heroine Manju Warrier. Dhanush starrer this film was highly praised. Later Manju also worked with Ajith in the film ‘Tuneev’. Manju says that though she is making her debut in Tamil cinema through Asuran, she has received many offers in the past as well. Manju Warrier said that many films that made it to the hit charts were not made. Manju Warrier’s response in an interview to Red FM.

“Prior to Asura, there were many Tamil films. Many offers came. But it didn’t happen due to various reasons. This was a time when films were being made continuously in Malayalam. So the date problem became more. ‘Kandukonin Kandukondin’ now in mind comes in. Aishwarya Rai did the role I wanted to play in it. Today I can say this. Its director first approached me. I can be approached for films anytime. Manju Warrier said, “I’ve never heard anyone say that.”

Kandu Kondin Kandu Kondin is a 2000 film directed by Rajeev Menon. The film starred Mammootty, Ajith Kumar, Aishwarya Rai, Tabu and Abbas in lead roles. Aishwarya Rai played the role of Meenakshi in the film. The romance between singer Meenakshi and Mammootty’s character Bala is still an audience favorite scene.
